“Together”

A regulation basketball game is a five versus-five affair. There are usually more than five players on each team, but only five can be in the game for each team at a time. Teams start out the game with five players each on the floor and, as long as foul trouble or injuries don’t deplete the number of players, finish with five players each on the floor.

Suppose a coach thought it was a good idea to play with only one player on the court for his team, going against an opposing team of five players while the remaining players sat idly on the bench. What would be thought about such a coach? Most would think that he was a terrible coach or that he had lost touch with reality…or both. There would be no logical reason for a coach to make one player shoulder the whole load while there were other players capable of helping.

The same is true of the churches of the Big Emory Baptist Association. No one church should ever have to think or operate as though it is shouldering the whole Gospel load. In His divine wisdom, God has placed our churches together so we can work together, encourage each other, and know we are not alone in the work He has for us to accomplish.

Together, we fed, clothed, and blessed an enormous amount of people through the Storehouse Ministry in Wartburg. Together, we have reached and discipled young people for years at the Roane State BCM. Together, we have ministered in our communities, country, and beyond. Together, we have built numerous ramps for people in need. And we have done so much more than this throughout the history of the Big Emory Baptist Association.

I pray we will continue to work with each other in the years to come in the aforementioned endeavors and in new missions and causes as we seek to honor the Lord…together.

In Christ,
