Courage to Act

Many of you have heard (and possibly even said) the phrase, “If you don’t stand for something, you’ll fall for anything.” It’s a good phrase and one worth remembering as we continue living in a society where simple words like “man” and “woman” are being redefined and people who believe in Biblical values are deemed to be hateful bigots. It is amazing to witness people who once stood firm in faith become wishy-washy because some of those they are close to having chosen to trade in the truth found in God’s Word for feelings found in their deceitful and rebellious hearts.

We all know that God is love, but we must also remember that He expects those who are His to adhere to His commands. Loving others is not just about being kind and accepting to everyone regardless of how aberrant their behavior and beliefs are, it is also about having the wherewithal to speak the truth in love into a culture that has gone astray. Doing this is often difficult, but it is not impossible as we look to Christ who did it with perfection.

Convictions are important, but having convictions without having courage is like having no convictions at all. I pray that our convictions are based on the Bible and that we all have enough courage to act upon those convictions as we follow Christ. May we rely upon the strength provided to us by the Holy Spirit in order to live lives that are pleasing to our King!
